Design & Construction
Guanaja - Honduras
Resort Guanaja Hills stands as a testament to sustainable design, blending natural materials with modern craftsmanship. Constructed primarily from locally sourced wood, the resort exemplifies the harmony between built environments and the surrounding landscape. The use of wood not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures a reduced carbon footprint, making it an eco-conscious retreat.
The resort features A-frame wooden villas, a distinctive architectural choice that offers both structural efficiency and visual elegance. The triangular forms create expansive interiors while providing optimal natural ventilation and thermal comfort. Large, strategically placed openings allow for cross-ventilation, reducing the need for artificial cooling and fostering an indoor-outdoor living experience.
Locally harvested hardwood is at the core of the construction, chosen for its durability, resistance to humidity, and rich texture. The wooden framework is carefully crafted using traditional joinery techniques, ensuring longevity without compromising on sustainability.
